Connely presents flower arranging program at Iris Garden Club meeting
Laura Connely demonstrates flower arranging techniques at the Iris Garden Club meeting. Laura Connely of Washington presented an informative and enjoyable program to members of the Iris Garden Club as they met Tuesday, November 10, in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church.
She demonstrated the art of making flower arrangements using painted terra cotta pots with materials from the garden and flowers from the store. She also made one large arrangement using fall foliage and roses as an accent. Helpful tips included using window caulk to plug the hole in the bottom of pots and using heavy foil in containers to keep them from leaking. The beautiful arrangements made were given away to members at the end of the meeting. Debbie Bennett introduced the program.
Franny Robinson presided and thanked hostesses, Gail Boyd, Norma Hopkins, Nancy McAvoy, Oleta McAvoy and Patsy Winn, for the delicious fall refreshments.

Daffodils and narcissus are great heirloom bulbs that start blooming as early as December and flower until April naturalizing any area beautifully.
Polly Fievet reported on the Fort Washington beautification project.
Oleta McAvoy, Fig Leaf project coordinator, asked that members continue to provide clothes, shoes, handkerchiefs, night gowns, robes, socks, sweatshirts, T-shirts and underclothes for this worthwhile need.
