Calli and her family got a few private moments with Ty Herndon at the home of Nobie Keener before the benefit concert. More than 300 people packed the Tignall gym last Thursday for “Tying up Cancer for Calli,” a concert by country star Ty Herndon to benefit Calli Nickels, a local teen who is being treated for a rare form of cancer.

“They just packed the gym to hear Ty,” said Ashley Barnett, “and they sold out the meet-and-greet with him at the home of Nobie Keener. It was a great concert, and a great cause.”

All the proceeds from the concert, the meet-and-greet, and concessions are going to help the Nickels family deal with medical expenses.

In the hour-long concert, Herndon sang many of his chart-topping songs, including three Number 1 songs – “What Mattered Most,” “Living in a Moment” and “It Must Be Love” – and Top Ten hits like “I Want My Goodbye Back,” “Loved Too Much,” “A Man Holding On (To a Woman Letting Go)” and “Hands of a Working Man.”
