Felix Charles Graves Jr.

Funeral services for Felix Charles Graves Jr., 66, of Newport News, Va., were held November 19, 2009, at Carter Funeral Home, Newport News, Va.; and November 20, at Fort Eustis Main Post Chapel. Interment was in A.G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va., November 24. He died on November 16.

Mr. Graves was a native of Wilkes County and the son of the late Felix and Viola Graves of Washington. He joined the Fort Eustis Main Post Chapel while stationed there in the early 1980s. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1960 and entered basic training in Fort Gordon. He served valiantly, completing two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army after over 24 years of service as a food services specialist.

Survivors include his wife, Heidi Graves; two children, Melanie Bendit and her husband Jeff, and Jasmine Williams; six grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Alex, Christopher, Daniel and Atiana; a brother, Lewis Graves; three sisters, Shirley Champ, Betty Armstrong, and Lorraine Goolsby.

Army servicemen served as pallbearers.

Carter Funeral Home of Newport News, Va., was in charge of arrangements.
