Mary C. Reid Women on Mission members meet December 1 at FBC

The Mary C. Reid Women on Mission met in the conference room of First Baptist Church Tuesday morning, December 1.

Mrs. Dennis Hopkins opened the meeting with the reading of the WMU Watchword, the WMU mission statement and prayer.

After the business meeting and plans for the monthly mission action projects, Mrs. Eldon Holes gave the prayer calendar and led in prayer for the missionaries.

Mrs. Gene Pollock introduced the program from “Mosaic” on the unreached peoples of the world and the missionary effort to reach them despite barriers to Christianity. Mrs. Hopkins continued the program with a description of the efforts in Northern India to establish house churches where Christians face possible persecution from Hindus. Mrs. James Johnson spoke about the rapid urbanization in China and the need for missionaries in the mega cities there. Mrs. Pollock described the difficulty in reaching the Berber people of North African nations where Islam is the religion. The Berbers have kept their own language and culture, but only a few books of the Bible have been translated into Berber languages which is a long slow process.

Mrs. Hopkins closed the meeting with prayer.

Members present were Mrs. Mary Ann Bentley, Mrs. Joe Harris, Mrs. Eldon Holes, Mrs. Dennis Hopkins, Mrs. James Johnson, Mrs. Gene Pollock and Mrs. Charles Reese.
