Tigers to host Lincoln, Hancock, Taliaferro in first Christmas tournament this weekend
For the first time maybe ever, the Washington-Wilkes Tiger basketball teams will be hosting a Christmas Tournament involving four area teams in a two-day, eight game event. Scheduled for this weekend at W-WCHS, the tournament will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 18, and conclude with the boys championship game starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Besides the hosting Tigers, teams invited to participate include the Lincoln County Red Devils, the Hancock Central Bulldogs, and the Taliaferro Jaguars. Tiger Head Coach Don Keiser says he hopes to make the tournament an annual event and he invites everyone to attend the games and see the new gym.
In the tournament opener, Hancock’s girls will be the visiting team to Taliaferro County starting at 4:30 p.m. Immediately following will be Hancock’s boys against the Taliaferro boys. The Tigers and Red Devils will follow with the girls first at 7:30 p.m. and the boys just after at about 9 p.m.
Beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the two losing girls teams will play for third and fourth places. Likewise, the boys first game losers will play next, starting at 3:30 p.m.
Championship games will commence with the girls game at 5 p.m. on Saturday followed by the boys at 6:30 p.m.

He also thanked all the teachers and parents sho have volunteered their time and effort to help make the tournament a success.
