Event successful; future looks bright
TO THE EDITOR:
Another Christmas Tour has come and gone leaving with it the joy of the holiday season. Many thanks to everyone who helped shape this annual tradition into one of the best tours ever. Folks travelled from far and wide to get a glimpse into our festively adorned homes and none was disappointed. Each homeowner went above and beyond to ensure that our many visitors would leave with an overwhelmingly good impression of Washington. To each of you, you have my deepest admiration and gratitude. There would be no tour without your willingness to share your homes to outsiders – and even a few nosey neighbors.
This goes to those of you who hosted dinners as well. What an amazing bunch of people you all are. Selfless and generous beyond measure. Again, thank you.
To Jane Bundy – bravo! You choroegraphed the most difficult aspect of the tour, and that was making sure that everyone’s meal arrived in a timely fashion. And what a meal it was. Aaron Rothman, take a bow. Nothing but raves regarding the delicious food you prepared. I am so proud of you and appreciate your hard work. Many commented that we served the best “Tour Meal” they’ve ever had. Kudos!
Among the milestones set was the attendance of a state senator and the first dinner to be served in the Robert Toombs house in over one hundred years. Amazing! Hats off to Louise Maynard for donating the place settings and other items that we needed. Everyone was duly impressed.
Karen Carter – you came to my rescue with providing the lastminute finishing touches at the Dunford-Canton home. It’s times of crisis that you learn who you can count on.
Katherine Barber – I wish I could absorb your creativity. With your vision, we have branded the Christmas Tour and elevated it to another level.
I’m going into hibernation now. Please wake me so that I may enjoy next year’s Christmas Tour as an extremely nosey neighbor.
Much love, admiration and respect,
Edward Franklin
Tour Chairman
