Funeral services for Sopphronnia Booker, 92, of Washington were held Monday, December 29, 2009, at Cherry Grove Baptist Church, Washington, with Pastor Charles Belton officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Wilkes County and was one of six children born to Aaron and Sarah Booker. She moved to Washington, D.C., and later lived and worked in Philadelphia, Penn., before returning to Wilkes County in 1957. She worked until her retirement for the William Pope family who continued to be her friends. She was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
