Emmett Moore Taylor
A memorial service for Emmett Moore “Mitch” Taylor, 22, of Union Point, was held Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro with Rev. Timothy Moore Taylor officiating. He died Thursday, December 31, in a traffic accident between Union Point and Athens.
Mitch was born in Greene County and was the son of Cathy Lee Farmer and Emmett Alfred “Mickey” Taylor. He attended Greene County High School and was a self-employed carpenter who was a “Jack of All Trades.” His love of “joking around” and telling jokes endeared him to many. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Washington.
Survivors include a son, Bryson Lee Taylor of Washington; his mother and step-father, Cathy Lee Farmer and Dewayne Fields of Lexington; his father, Emmett Alfred “Mickey” Taylor of Union Point; a sister, Taylor Farmer of Rayle; stepbrother and step-sisters, Zachary Fields, Andria Fields, Jessica Fields, and Tabatha Fields, all of Lexington; his maternal grandmother, Martha Ann Sanders of Lexington; maternal great-grandmothers, Sallie Mae Arnold of Lexington, and Ophelia Compton of Crawford; step-grandparents, Vernon Fields and his wife Barbara of Athens; paternal grandparents, Harold Gibson Jr. and Dianne Taylor Gibson of Union Point; paternal great-grandparents, Helen J. Miller of Washington, and Harold Gibson and wife Mary of Raytown, MO. He was the grandson of the late Carl Dean Farmer and Emmett Moore Taylor; and great-grandson of the late Howard Miller.
McCommons Funeral Home of Greensboro was in charge of arrangements.
