Sardis Baptist Church enjoyed a good sermon, “Broken and Spilled Out,” by Rev. Jim Newsome Sunday morning. Joyce Fry led the singing of beautiful oldtime hymns with Courtney Gunter playing the piano in the absence of Pam Hall. Tiffany Lamar sang a beautiful special. After the children’s story by Pastor Newsome they departed to the annex with Tina Boatwright and Levi for Children’s Church. Rev. Andy Perryman was guest speaker Sunday evening and gave an inspiring message. Prayer meeting is every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Echols Home. ƒPrayers continue for Kaitlyn Porter, Tim Echols, Kelly Armour, Betty Hight, Geneva Cowart, Ridge Moore, Ann Gunter, Catherine Callaway, Joyce Chamberlain, Nancy Moon, Frances Vinson, Jenelle Newsome, Grady Rogers, Travis Adams, George Wideman, Douglas Burkett, Edythe Harper, Thelma Favor, Eric Arnold, Dorothy Callaway, Marion and Millie Mansfield, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell, Brooke Bentley Pearson, Maude Mauldin, Wiley Crittenden, Jimmy Fisher, Freddy Brown, Eddie Boswell, Luanne Brown, Jimmy Compton, Liz Bolton, and Patsy Seymour Epps. ƒSympathy is extended to the families of Betty Chafin Maxey, Dora May Hayes Leary, Preston Frank Sanders Jr., Mary Patterson, Beatrice Evalou Brooks Harris, Fred Colley Jr., Mary Catherine McKellar. They will be greatly missed. ƒBirthdays in February that I know of are Lamar Berry, February 18; Kathy Holdredge, February 20; and Karan Newsome, February 25. ƒA chile supper is planned for Saturday, February 13, at 6 p.m. by the WMU of Sardis Baptist Church. This is to benefit the Relay for Life. Tickets are being sold by WMU members and other members of the church. ƒRev. Sandy Hespal, pastor of Rock United Methodist Church, visited Shirley Chafin Thursday. Charlie Arnold of Athens also visited Shirley Thursday. Supper guests Sunday evening were Mack Chafin, Ronnie and Racquel Chafin, Shelia Arnold, Mandy, Jake, Walker, Terri, Eric, Tangie and Caleb. ƒKay Berry and Brooke Berry took Kaitlyn Porter for tests at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta Monday. ƒBuck and Linda Echols' company Sunday were Greg and Angela Armour, Cody and Hunter, Samantha Callaway, Scott and Sissy Smith, Abby and J.T., Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank, and Brock Jackson. ƒClyde and Sandy Whittington visited Calvin and Betty Whittington in Colbert Friday. Bryce Frankel spent Wednesday and Thursday nights with Clyde and Sandy. ƒJohnny and Kathryn Shedd's guests Sunday were Chad and Angie Williams, Garrett Paul and friend, Melissa, Cody Paul and friend, Alex, Ashtyn, Ricky Shedd, Tim and Gail Stewart, Paul and Hannah Wright, Ava and Gage. ƒBonnie Boatwright enjoyed Sunday dinner with Kay Berry, Trey Berry, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn, Bryson and Kaidyn. ƒ James and Kathleen Canup and Margaret Peterman of Lexington and Fran Thaxton and Bonnie Boatwright traveled over to Elberton Tuesday afternoon to play bingo with other seniors at Wendy's. ƒBonnie Boatwright spent Wednesday afternoon in Bogart with her sister, Martha Jones. They joined Wayne Williams of Watkinsville, Frankie Jones of Athens, and James and Sharon Smith of Stephens for an evening meal at I-Hop. ƒJ.W. and Bonnie Boatwright went to her doctor in Thomson Thursday morning and enjoyed breakfast at the Waffle House afterwards. Thursday afternoon, J.W. took Bonnie back to her cancer doctor in Athens for a regular checkup and they were glad to get a good report. They enjoyed eating out at Applebees. ƒThe Rayle Lunch and Learn Club held its monthly meeting at the City Hall Wednesday. After a very enthusiastic meeting and making a heart scarf for Valentines Day they enjoyed a wonderful southern country meal. Attending were Peggy Echols, Martha Hall, Diane Compton, Ruth Flynt, Sudie Kennedy, Fran Thaxton, Betty Winfrey, Mildred Sisson, Mablean Sherrer, Christine Wheatley, and Bonnie Boatwright. ƒHelen Smith and Gertrude Jones of Crawford came by for Bonnie Monday afternoon of last week and they went to Washington and enjoyed coffee at McDonald's. ƒBonnie Boatwright attended the funeral service for Mrs. Thelma Coile at the Crawford Baptist church Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Coile was the mother of a classmate of Bonnie, Jimmy Coile. Afterwards, Bonnie visited Helen Smith and Gertrude Jones in Crawford.
