Encore Productions will be having its first show of the 2010 season at the Elbert Theatre, Elberton, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, February 19-28. Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday shows at 2 p.m.

The first production of the season will be “The Music Man” starring Michael Blackston as Harold Hill and Allyson Dye as Marian Paroo. The musical with a cast of over 50 people is being directed by Bob Paul and Nan Teasley.

“The Music Man” is an affectionate paean to Smalltown, USA, of a bygone era. The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a treble clef from a trombone.

Tickets or reserve seating can be purchased by calling the Elbert Theatre Box Office at 706-283-1049 or emailing tking@cityofelberton.net. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets at the door will be $15.
