Kristin Lee Bridges Stevens of Pitts, mother-to-be of Hailee Claire Stevens who will make her arrival in April, was treated to a baby shower on Saturday, January 30, at the home of Donna Hardy on the Lincolnton Road in Washington.

Hostesses for the occasion were Lisa Stevens Bentley and daughter, Brynnlee, of Lincolnton, Monica Hardy and daughter, Emily, and Donna Hardy, all of Washington.

Mrs. Stevens was presented a corsage of white daisies surrounding a baby rattle as were the prospective grandmothers, Tricia Bridges and Joyce Stevens, and great-grandmother, Myrtice Stevens.

The drive entrance was marked with a six-foot stork sporting a pink and purple bow inviting guests to the festivities.

Inside the dining area was decorated with a three-foot name plaque designed especially for Hailee to complement her layette in colors of pink and purple and designs of butterflies, dragonflies and ladybugs. The dining table also held a bouquet of flowers to complement her colors with pink tulips, purple liatrice, Monte Casino, Alstroemeria lilies and tree fern.

Guests were served sherbet punch with homemade chicken, raisin, pecan sandwiches, pimento cheese sandwiches, baked ham croissants, cheese straws, nuts, plum cake, chips and dip, fresh strawberries and grapes from a fruit tree, and vegetables of carrots and broccoli with dip.

The hostesses presented the prospective mother a baby swing.

Prospective grandmother, Tricia Bridges, had prepared a special book for guests to sign as they arrived and to hold mementos of the event.

Fifty-five friends and family were invited.

As Mrs. Stevens was being showered with gifts and well-wishers by friends and family, husband and prospective father, Greg Stevens, was being entertained by his father-in-law, Donald Bridges, at the Bridges home on Newtown Road. The prospective father and friends enjoyed the day by helping prepare a pork stew and barbecue at the Bridges home. Later in the day, the entire feast was enjoyed by all.
