4-H Dairy Team shows at UGA, prepares for coming state show
Members of the Wilkes County 4-H Dairy Team placed at the UGA heifer show last weekend.
Wilkes County 4-H Dairy Team members are counting down their show dates as they prepare for the state show in two weeks.
The Show Team competed in the 13th Annual UGA Commercial Dairy Heifer Show in Athens last Saturday. It was their final show before state competition.
Placings were: Megan Thackston with fourthth in weight class and honorable mention in showmanship; Joshua Rimes with fifth in weight class and ninth in showmanship; Marlyse Sifre with eighth in weight class and fifth in showmanship; Shannon Thackston with eighth in weight class and seventh in showmanship; Brianna Rimes with eighth in weight class and honorable mention in showmanship, Miranda Crook with ninth in weight class and honorable mention in showmanship, and Courtney Thackston with tenth in weight class and honorable mention in showmanship.
The UGA Commercial Dairy show is sponsored by the UGA College of Agriculture, Department of Animal and Dairy Science.
“These 4-H’ers have done an outstanding job competing this year. We would like to congratulate them for all their hard work and thank them for making this season a successful one. We wish the Wilkes Co. 4-H Dairy Show Team the best as they head to Perry, Georgia, to compete at the Georgia Junior National Livestock Show,” Audra C. Armour, County 4-H Extension Agent, said.
