Funeral services for Carl W. Stewart Jr., 84, of Ashley Avenue, Washington, were held Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the Jennings Baptist Church in Taliaferro County with Rev. Wade Palmer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, February 3, at Heritage Health Care of Wilkes, Washington.

Mr. Stewart was a native of Taliaferro County and had lived in Washington for about 60 years. He retired from Royal Manufacturing Company. He was the son of the late Carl W. Stewart and Luna Mae Ogletree Stewart and the widower of Gladys Dodd Stewart. He was a member of the Jennings Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda S. Fisher, Dunwoody, and Patricia Stewart, Washington; and a grandson, Ryan Fisher.
