Tignall News
Wasn’t that the prettiest snow ever? That’s the kind I like. Here today, gone tomorrow! I saw several snow pictures from families’ e-mails and face book, but prettiest were of the deer in the snow sent to me from Nancy Hilley and the picture of Kay Tyler’s of the snow around the pond with the reflection of the trees in the water. You won’t find me sliding down hills on pizza pans any more. I view the snow from the windows. I heard that 49 states have had snow this winter. Hawaii is the only state without snow. ƒIn one adult Sunday School class at Tignall Baptist Church Sunday morning, each couple was allowed a chance to tell their sweet pet name for their spouses. One sweet name for a wife was very unusual. It was “My Syrup Head.” Now, men, don’t get any ideas. ƒCongratulations to Blake and Angela Davis. Dunnie had a battle with cancer, but is in a much better place now. When we were growing up, all the cousins wanted to be with Dunnie because he was so much fun and had such a great sense of humor. One former classmate told about and incident in Mrs. Vandiver’s seventh grade class at Tignall school where they had been studying the Civil War. When Dunnie stood up his marbles came falling out through a hole in his pocket.
Mrs. Vandiver, looking very stern,
asked, “What is that?” Dunnie answered df_10_0011_1_ad._inr0d1d
with his usual quick wit, “The firing
on Ft. Sumter.” Mrs. Vandiver laughed louder than the students. He will be dearly missed by his wife Carolyn, his daughter Sheree, his son Derrick, and all his brothers and sisters, Sara Frances Henderson, Barbara Oakley, Betty Reese, Sanders Rhodes, Ed Rhodes, Pat Mack, and William Rhodes. ƒLet’s remember the following people in our prayers this week: Charlene Anderson who had knee replacement surgery recently; Bobby Blakey who fell and broke his nose; Myrline Thornton, Frances Vinson, Charles Pullen, Tommy Bowen, Phoebe Davis, Vivian Wolozin, Louise Denard, Patsy Epps, Reese Smith, Tim Echols, Shirley Roberson, Kathryn Anderson, and Billy Gilland. ƒI understand the Valentine Banquet at Tignall Baptist Church was a success despite the weather.
