Fannie Ida Fanning Funeral services for Fannie Ida Fanning, 98, of Washington, will be held Friday, February 19, 2010, at Twin Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Mattox officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Friday, February 12, at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fanning was a native of Wilkes County and the oldest of 11 children born to the late Ed and Rozia Anthony. She was married 76 years to the late Frank “Boss” Fanning. She joined Twin Oak Baptist Church and worked faithfully until her health failed. She was respected in her community by the young and old and was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone. She was a talented and professional seamstress and made clothes for many people. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Rose Fanning of Lawrenceville, and Nathaniel and Evelyn Fanning of Hillside, N.J.; six daughters, Sue Bradley and Rose Baisey of Washington, Katherine and William Jones of Lakewood, N.J., Doretha Davis of Toms River, N.J., Emma Beatty of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Barbara and Edward Bacon of Athens; three sisters, Daisey Anthony and Gladys Arnett of Lexington, N.C., and Yvonne Crew of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Fanning of Washington; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 18, 6-7 p.m., at Davenport McLendon Mortuary Inc., Washington, who is in charge of arrangements. |
