Wills Memorial Lunch and Learn program to feature opthalmologist
Wills Memorial Hospital will host a Lunch and Learn Thursday, February 25, at 12 noon in the hospital library.
Dr. Walter Sams, ophthalmologist with Keller, Crymes and DeMarco, will present a program on cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Glaucoma in conjunction with diabetes is the leading cause of blindness.
Dr. Sams graduated from Athens Academy in May of l995. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., in May of 1999 and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 2004. His internship was completed at Baptist Health System in Birmingham, Ala., and his residence in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Va., in July, 2005.
Dr. Sams was appointed to the Wills Memorial Hospital staff in January 2009.
