Area Sunday Schools will sponsor a Sunday School workshop at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Baltimore Road, Washington, Saturday, February 27, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Valerie Jackson of August will be the coordinator. Lunch will be served.

Pauline Chapel FBH Church will have a missionary program Sunday, March 14, 3 p.m. The speaker will be Minister Francis Allen from Macedonia FBH Church in Elberton.

The Bereavement Support Group sponsored by Wills Memorial Hospital will meet Wednesday, March 10, at 1 p.m., in the hospital library. The meeting is open to the public and focuses on the sharing of experiences and changes to everyday living that have come about by the loss of a loved one. The program is facilitated by Rev. The Mary Willis Library will close at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday during the winter months due to budget cuts.

Hours for the Washington- Wilkes Animal Shelter have changed. The shelter is now open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; or by appointment by calling 706-678-3187.

Wills Memorial Hospital will hold low impact classes every Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the education room at the Simpson Building, located between the hospital and Wilkes County Health Department. Jackson Chapel AME Church will have its black history program Sunday, February 28, at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Eddie Lee Ivery of McDuffie County, a former professional All-American football player who played running back for eight seasons for the Green Bay Packers.

Victory Baptist Church on the Newtown Road will have homecoming on August 8 and a celebration if its 45th year. Former pastor Lawrence Griffeth will be preaching in the morning service and Evangelist Billy Ingram will preach during the evening service and through Wednesday night. The Lions Club will have chicken barbecue available to the public on Saturday, March 20, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the clubhouse on Spring Street.
