Tiger baseball season gets started this week with celebration Sat.

This is the week for Washington- Wilkes Tiger baseball to get started for 2010 and with games already played early in the week, the stage is set for the first-ever “Tiger Baseball Day” set for this Saturday, February 27, beginning at 11 a.m. at Tiger Field.

Organized and planned by players’ parents in an effort to fund a new sound system, the day’s celebration will include the official announcments and introductions of the baseball teams and Diamond Girls. Food and drinks will be available and t-shirts and other Tiger items will be on sale. There will also be “great raffle prizes” for adults and kids alike.

Announced prizes include such items as a round of golf at the W-W Country Club, an Epson printer, massage, reserved-seat tickets for a UGA Bulldogs baseball game, Braves items, Tiger items, various gift certificates, and much more.

The day will also include a JV doubleheader against Elbert County starting at 1 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come support the teams and meet this year’s players, coaches, and families.
