Firefighters were unable to save a mobile home that went up in flames Saturday afternoon on Broad Road in north Wilkes County.
Firefighters from the Tignall and Beulah Volunteer Fire Departments arrived at the home of Sandy Roberson at 3032 Broad Road to find the structure fully involved and the roof beginning to come down. Tignall’s Knocker 9 and Beulah’s Knocker 10 along with units from Washington responded to the fire, but the home was a total loss.
Chief Ryan Burton of the Tignall VFD talked to the resident, who said he was not at home when the fire broke out, but that he’d had a fire in the fireplace earlier. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
