Barnetts meet with state leaders

Washington City Councilman Ames M. Barnett (left), and Washington- Wilkes Tourism Director Ashley Barnett (at right) met with leaders including Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue and State Senator Lee Anderson during Leadership Day at the Capitol hosted by the state DCA in conjunction with the 4-H program. “We had lunch with our legislators and the governor spoke on how our youth is the future of our great state,” Ashley said. “We met with Lee Anderson and Rep. Mickey Channell and other legislators concerning Washington’s need for jobs, the importance of tourism, and the need for state funding.” The Barnetts were able to sit in on the House floor during a legislative session and met the Speaker of the House, she said.
