Wilkes County School Superintendent Dr. Rosemary Caddell (left) told members of the Washington Rotary Club that even in spite of the current recession, the local schools are doing well and in many ways are the envy of other schools in the state especially among systems of similar size. She said the recession is actually providing some opportunities to develop “really good focus” because it forces people to make smart choices. “It’s always about focusing on the children,” she said, stressing that their education is top priority. Caddell also presented a slide show illustrating how Wilkes County students are above state averages. Roger Walker was program chairman for the day.
