‘Song of the Shadows’ cantata to be presented Palm Sunday

The Senior Choir of the First Baptist Church will present an Easter cantata on Palm Sunday evening, March 28, at the 7 p.m. worship service. The cantata is titled “Song of the Shadows.”

The choir will open the service with a call to “Come to the shadows, the flickering candle. Silence yourself in the still of this place. Here in this moment as silence surrounds you, open your heart to the music of grace.”

“Song of the Shadows” is a beautiful work which extends an invitation to contemplate the love and sacrifice of Christ,” says Patricia B. Burton, First Baptist Music Director. “It traces in song the last days of our Savior.”

The cantata will be sung in an unusual setting of darkness with the focus being on the cross and on eight candles, all of which will be extinguished as the work progresses.

The public is invited to the service. A nursery for small children will be provided.
