Cornelia Johnson Circle of FUMC meets March 4 in fellowship hall
The Cornelia Johnson Circle of First United Methodist Church met in the fellowship hall Thursday evening, March 4.
Hostesses for the meeting were Rose Bennett, Jean Steed and Judy Thompson. Cornelia Johnson provided the centerpiece for the serving table and other tables were decorated with candles and flowers.
Everyone was welcomed by Mrs. Thompson and Rev. Gale Seibert offered the prayer.
Alice Lindsey gave the budget report and, after a discussion, members decided that UMCOR would receive a donation for Chile. Baby layettes for Haiti would also be purchased.
As reports continued, Bunny Gunby told of her activities with the sunshine duties.
Laura Toburen and Pauline Bell and others who assisted were thanked for their efforts in making the dinner for seniors and shut-ins in February a success.
It was announced that on March 28 immediately after the worship service, a spring luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall. Cost will be donations that will go to the building fund. The planning is under the direction of Linda Smith and Pauline Bell with other circle members assisting.
Following this luncheon the Seekers Sunday School Class will sponsor an auction with items including beach condos, a lake home, various talents as well as lots of fabulous items going to the highest bidder. All proceeds will go to the building fund.
After enjoying refreshments, members watched a tape featuring Lucy Swindall, a speaker from last year’s Women of Faith Conference in Atlanta.

Members were reminded the next meeting will be changed to April 13 due to the spring break.
