Denard finishes in top 15

Austin Denard, a 12-year-old student at Washington-Wilkes Middle School, took part in the Grand National GNCC race last weekend at Aonia Pass and finished in the top 15 of his class. Saying that he was excited to be able to compete in a nationwide race, Austin commented that he is “happy to have a facility such as Aonia Pass in our community for the young people to enjoy.” Austin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Denard, began riding when he was three years old and enjoys riding as often as possible. He has been racing motocross for about two years. Hunter Safrit, also from Wilkes County, was another local participant in the race.
