A benefit event for a young Washington mother with cancer is set for Saturday at The Gin House on Church Street in Tignall.

The benefit, for Brooke Bentley Pearson, will include a motorcycle poker run set to start at 10 a.m., plus a 50/50 drawing, a horseshoe tournament, a silent auction, a bake sale, and door prizes. Barbecue plates will be on sale from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

A handmade guitar crafted by Brad Tucker has been donated to sell at the silent auction.

Brooke, 31, is a wife and the mother of two young children who has been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer with lymph node involvement, the family says. She has been out of work undergoing treatment and is expected to be out of work for another nine months after surgery and follow-up treatments. She is the daughter of Peggy and Jimmy Tanner and Frank and Lou Bentley of Washington.
