FFA members host sub-area public speaking contest here

The FFA provides students with the opportunity to hone their speaking skills through various speaking contests and Washington-Wilkes FFA members hosted the Sub- Area 2C Prepared Public Speaking Bracket at the high school on Wednesday March 3.

The contest is divided into a junior division (grades 7-9) and a senior division (grades 9-12). Speakers are scored by a panel according to the quality of the manuscript, stage presence, and presentation. The top two competitors from each division move to the Area Competition to be held March 30.

Schools represented at the contest included Oglethorpe County High School, North Oconee High School, Elbert County High School, Greene County, Hilsman Middle School, Malcolm Bridge Middle School, and Oconee Middle School. Judges were Belle Guin, Tanya Morgan, Dawn Pickens, Michelle Mickens, Marilyn Tate, and Marsha Willis.

W-W FFA members hosting the event were Hollie Huffman, Haley Long, Liz Kitchens, Gabby Lavender, Seth Canterbury, and their advisor, Nathan Heaton.
