Washington -- a Tree City for 25 years
2010-03-18 / News
For the 25th consecutive year, Washington has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. Displaying the foundation’s flag are Tree Board members Laura Toburen and Mike Hardy, Ranger Abron Blackburn, Councilman Nathaniel Cullars, Mayor Willie Burns, Tree Board member Bernard Welborn, and Ranger Beth Richards. For 25 years, Washington has met the four standards to be a Tree City USA: having a Tree Board, having a tree care ordinance, maintaining a comprehensive community forestry program, and having an Arbor Day observance.
