West, Lukich qualify to attend National Leadership Conference

Nine members of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School attended the Georgia HOSA State Leadership and Competitive Events Conference in Athens March 4-6.

Over 2000 students from across Georgia met in the Classic Center and were welcomed by Georgia State HOSA President Patrick Chancy. Students had the opportunity to choose from 50 competitive events categories. Students from WWCHS competed in the following events related to healthcare: Home Health Aide, Prepared Speaking, Human Growth and Development, Extemporaneous Health Poster, Job Seeking Skills, Epidemiology, Kaiser Permanente Healthcare Issues Exam, Extemporaneous Writing, and Career Health Display.

Ashley West, a senior at WWCHS, placed fourth in Home Health Aide and has qualified as an alternate to the National Leadership Conference. Kristin Lukich, a junior qualified to take the Kaiser Permanente Healthcare Issues Exam at the National Leadership Conference. The National Leadership Conference will be held in Orlando, Florida, June 23-26.
