Graveside services for William Stevenson “Billy” McClearen, 67, of Tifton were held Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Tifton, with Dr. W. Ches Smith III and Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. He died Wednesday, March 10, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McClearen was a native of Wilkes County, and the son of the late William Arch “Bud” McClearen and Virginia Wolfe Stevenson Mc- Clearen. He was a graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School and continued his education at Norman Park College and the University of Georgia. He was employed in the family business, McClearen Electric in Washington, for many years, even after moving to Tifton where he has been a resident since 1985. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington. He will be remembered by family and friends for his goodness, devotion and love for his family, and by the care that he gave to his late mother-in-law on a daily basis during the last several year of her life.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara Sanders McClearen of Tifton; two daughters and a sonin law, Leianna McClearen Ishler and her husband, Brent, of Tifton, and Brittany McClearen of Milledgeville; a sister, Valerie McClearen Jackson of Tignall; and four grandchildren, Hunter, Brent, Wilkes, and Alexandra.
