The Mary Callaway Burton Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church was the scene of a miscellaneous shower honoring Amanda Woods, bride-elect of Curry Hogan, on Saturday afternoon, March 13.

Hostesses for the afternoon occasion were the prospective bridegroom’s aunts, Kathryn Hunter of Washington and Jackie Butts of Crawfordville, and cousins, Lisa Newsome of Washington, Erin Hunter of Statesboro, Debra Hunter of Bishop, and Mary Butts of Stockbridge.

The bride-elect was presented a corsage of pink sweetheart roses to accent her hunter green dress.

Ferns flanked the entrance to the fellowship hall and were also used at points around the room in the hall.

As guests arrived, they were greeted by the hostesses and invited to register in the bride’s book placed on a table overlaid in white and decorated with a budvase of hot pink Gerber daisies, Monte Casino, purple statice and greenery. Also on the table were a framed picture of the engaged couple and a copy of the party invitation.

Centering the refreshment table, also overlaid in white, was an exquisite arrangement of hot pink Gerber daisies, pink and white tulips, sweetheart roses, Bells of Ireland, purple statice, Monte Casino and assorted greenery. From this table guests enjoyed fresh fruits, party tomato sandwiches, cheese straws, chicken salad and crackers, toasted pecans, cheese ring and strawberries with crackers and dainty petit fours decorated in the bride-elect’s wedding colors of purple and pink.

Another table nearby was centered with the punch bowl banked with fern and beautiful pink camellias from the yard of the prospective bridegroom’s mother, Lynda Pollock.

Mr. Hogan joined his bride-to-be during the afternoon to assist her in opening gifts that included the hostesses gift of a pair of hedge trimmers. His cousin, Sarah Grace Hunter of Statesboro, was nearby to assist the couple also.

Fifty-five guests were invited. Special guests attending included the bride-elect’s mother, Debra Woods, and aunts, Helen Benning and Carol Drake, all of Washington; the prospective bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Pollock of Washington; his sister, Anna Hogan of Martinez; and his grandmother, Sybil Veazey of Crawfordville.
