Two injured in Danburg hit-and-run
Wilkes EMS and Washington Fire and Rescue personnel extricate two injured drivers Sunday evening in an apparent hit-and-run. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Michael Screws said that a trailer pulled by Myles Dawson crashed into the red pickup driven by Wilkes Deputy Troy Land, which then crashed head-on into a third car, driven by Wayne Beecher. After the crash, Dawson allegedly drove off and tried to hide the damaged vehicle. Both Land and Beecher were transported to the Medical College of Georgia trauma center for treatment. Deputies say Land is expected to come home this week, but the other driver was still in the trauma unit as of Tuesday afternoon. Trooper Screws said charges are pending against Dawson including DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and serious injury by vehicle.
