Funeral services for Richard Thomas, 75, were held Monday, July 12, 2010, at the Springfield Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. G.L. Avery officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. He died July 7 at McDuffie Regional Hospital, Thomson.

Mr. Thomas was a native of Wilkes County and the son of the late Viola Henderson and Rural Thomas. He was a member of Booker’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sisters, Elease Dancey of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Brenda Brown, Gwinnett County, Hattie Gartrell, and Annette Thomas of Washington, and Teresa Johnson of Athens.

Pallbearers included Eric Thomas, Marion Tutt, and Ronnie Cook.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
