Walter Standridge
Graveside services for Walter “Bo” Standridge, 71, of Orchard Street, Washington, will be held Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Washington-Wilkes Memorial Garden with Rev. Daniel Fernandez officiating. He died Monday, July 12, in the University Hospital, Augusta.
Mr. Standridge was a native and lifelong resident of Wilkes County. He was the widower of Martha Foster Standridge, and the son of the late Hubert and Myrtle Pullen Standridge. He was a retired loom maintenance technician in the textile industry and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1955-1959. He was a member of VFW Post 5899, Washington, where he was a former Post Commander and served as Quartermaster.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Buddy and Judy Standridge of Braselton, Mike and Karen Standridge of Flowery Branch, and Doug and Lori Standridge of Washington; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Eddie Howard of Rayle; a sister, Peggy Johnson of Fortsonia; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
