The Silver Streaks of the First Baptist Church celebrated Independence Day on Friday evening, July 2, at a fellowship in the Mary Callaway Burton Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.

The event was planned to coincide with the Washington fireworks extravaganza on The Square.

Nearly 90 members and guests gathered in the fellowship hall for an all-American picnic-style dinner of hot dogs, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, chips, watermelon and an assortment of delicious homemade desserts, many that carried out the red, white and blue decorating theme.

The hall was festively decorated in the traditional July 4th red, white and blue with flowers, banners, flags and numerous statues of Uncle Sam.

Prior to the dinner everyone said the “Pledge of Allegiance” led by Travis Armour and Senior Choir members in attendance gathered to sing America. The blessing was offered by W.C. Bentley.

After dinner and fellowship, all moved outside to the recreation area for the perfect spot to enjoy the fireworks display.
