Revival services began Sunday morning at Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Walton as guest speaker. He preached wonderful messages at both morning and evening services and we looked forward to each evening through Wednesday. After Sunday morning services everyone enjoyed the delicious covered dish meal and the time of fellowship. ƒKeep in mind that homecoming will be held at Clifford's Grove on August 8. ƒI can remember when I was a child that at homecoming services the church would be full of folks and the covered dish meal would be served on long tables under the big oak tree. Revivals, which were called "protracted meetings," lasted all week with morning and evening services. Families in the community would "feed" the pastor and guest speaker lunch and sometimes supper every day. Things have changed quite a bit. ƒAfter her doctor's appointment, Mrs. Juanita Bradford and Trudy Sutherland had lunch in Augusta before returning home. ƒGay Branham, Whitney, Charlie, and their friend, Hunter Safrit, spent the week at Panama City Beach. Charlie and Hunter enjoyed one day deep sea fishing. ƒMy granddaughters, Ann Caldwell, who lives in Newington, on her way to McCaysville to spend the weekend with her parents, and Beth Branham of Mc- Caysville, on her way to Florida for the weekend with friends, met here Friday and had lunch with us. ƒAnn Marie Caldwell of Thomson visited Iris Dyson at Washington Manor Friday afternoon. ƒVisiting Iris Dyson Saturday afternoon were her cousin, Annette Marlor, and her friend, Lisa Newman, of Martinez. Visiting her on Sunday afternoon were Charles Hopkins, Megan Turner, and Harrison from Elbert County. ƒ"Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil. It has no point."
