By Bonnie Boatwright Call 274-3264 By Bonnie Boatwright Call 274-3264 Sardis Baptist Church enjoyed a good service with Rev. Jim Newsome bringing the message on “Choices” from the book of Matthew. Joyce Fry led the music with Pam Hall as pianist. Children’s church was held as Rev. Newsome called the children to the altar to give them their sermon. There was another good service Sunday evening as the pastor led in the study of the Book of Corinthians. Prayer meeting was held Wednesday evening at the Echols Home. ƒMany in the community attended the baby shower for Samantha Callaway Sunday afternoon at Sardis. She received many nice and useful gifts which she appreciated very much.

Roy Cates, Marvin Weaver, Becky Thomasson, Marilyn Newsome, Jack Newsome, Tim Echols, Wilda Boatwright, Ann Williamson, Elizabeth Denard, Edythe Harper, Maude Mauldin, Thelma Favor, Graham Eason, Thomas Shultz, George Wideman, Reece Smith, Brooke Bentley Pearson, Dorothy Callaway, Sallie Mae Arnold, Nancy Moon, Frances Vinson, Patsy Epps, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell. ƒSympathy and love go out to the families of Ola Bell Hall, Catherine Louise Hessert, Walter (Bo) Standridge, Carlton Kendrick, Marion Huff, T.C. Harrington, Pauline Hopkins Robinson, Richard Thomas, and James Scroggins. ƒRev. and Mrs. Jim Newsome have returned from a trip to Vero Beach, Fla., where they spruced up their property and enjoyed seeing many of their friends. ƒHelen Smith and Gertrude Jones of Crawford and Bonnie Boatwright went to their dermatologist in Athens Friday and afterwards enjoyed lunch at the Golden Corral in Winder. ƒDanny and Monica Gunter, Courtney, Meredith and Madison vacationed at the Atlantis in the Bahamas from July 5 to July 11. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined James and Kathleen Canup and Fran Thaxton in Lexington Tuesday to travel to Elberton to play bingo with other seniors at Wendy's. ƒKyle Frankel of Crawford spent two nights during the week with his grandparents, Clyde and Sandy Whittington. ƒShirley Chafin, Pete Poss, Terri Diaz, Rocky Nation, and Erin attended a cookout at the home of John Bass in Oglethorpe County Friday. ƒBonnie Boatwright visited Demetrice and Brooke Porter, Bryson and Kaidyn in Washington Saturday afternoon. Kaitlyn was at the home of her grandmother, Rosemary Gresham. ƒA birthday dinner honoring Dwayne Armour was given by Bobby and Debra Armour Sunday. Others attending were Chris Armour, Rebecca Armour, Amber Armour, James Bolton, Frances Fendley, and Joann Perez. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined her brother and his wife, James and Sharon Smith of Stephens, Saturday for lunch at the Pizza Hut in Washington. Later in the afternoon Bonnie joined Helen Smith and Gertrude Jones of Crawford for Coke and ice cream at McDonald's. ƒ Joan Boaz of North Carolina and Bobby and Sandra Arnold of Athens visited Shirley Chafin Friday. ƒBonnie Boatwright enjoyed joining Brooke Porter, Kaitlyn and Kaidyn of Washington to eat Sunday dinner with Kay Berry and Trey. ƒShirley Chafin was glad to have all of her children at her house for dinner Sunday. They also enjoyed homemade ice cream afterwards. ƒBeth Thaxton and Fran Thaxton attended the wedding of Lee and Tommy's cousin, Anna Matras, in Screven Saturday afternoon. Saturday night, Mary Ann Bateman of Macon joined them for supper at the Western Sizzlin in Jesup.
