Washington Personal Mention

Newton and Pam Gunter joined several friends for a weekend trip to Unicoi State Park. Weekend activities included tubing down the Chattahoochee River and whitewater rafting down the Nantahala River in North Carolina. l Barbara Wolter visited Wednesday and Thursday in Vidalia with Bruce, Lynn and Alexis Gioia and Jarrett Truitt. During the visit they celebrated Mrs. Gioia and Jarrett’s birthdays. The Gioia family joined the Wolters for a weekend trip to Senoia to visit Kim and Jeana Moss and family and celebrate the birthday of Alaina Alberts, the Wolters’ great-granddaughter. l Betty Reese enjoyed the weekend in the Beulah community with her sister, Sara Frances Henderson. R.C. and Barbara Oakley of Hampton joined them Friday night for supper. They attended the Rhodes reunion during the weekend. l Visiting several days with John and Linda Webster were his sons, Robert Webster of Crocker, Mo., and John Webster Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa., and John’s fiancĂ©e, Kathy Brennan, also of Pittsburgh. l Bill and Jackie Gillispie, their son, Steve Gillispie, and granddaughters, Madison and Kaitlyn, enjoyed a week at their mountain home in Hartford, Tenn. While there they enjoyed the Smoky Mountains, a trip to Cades Cove where they saw bear and deer and a trip to Cataloochee where they were surprised to see some very large elk. On Sunday Bill and Jackie Gillispie had the pleasant occasion of attending homecoming at the nearby New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. l Robert and Mary Graves of Los Angeles, Calif., visited during the weekend with Arthur Graves. l Bill and Teresa Bishop joined their daughter and family, Stephanie, Jimmy, Neely and Brennah Collum of Rockmart, and grandson, Landon Bishop of Adairsville, in attending the Logan reunion at Cave Spring on Sunday. l John and Lynn Morrow of Shenyang, China, are visiting his parents, John and Marjorie Morrow, for a couple of weeks. Visiting the family over the weekend were Paul and Claire Morrow Stephens of Northport, Ala., and their son, Reid Stephens of Birmingham, Ala. l Joining Mary Duggan last Thursday for a luncheon and visit were Genie Thomas Price of Franklin, N.C., Barksdale Thomas Boyd of Columbus and Buzzy and Jo Randall. l Anna Heaton of Moulton, Ala., arrived in Washington Wednesday night for a weekend visit. Thursday she traveled to Watkinsville to pick up her nieces, Amelia and Mary Emma Norman, to bring them to Washington for a visit with her and their grandmother, Dottie Norman. The girls’ parents, Henry and Kathy Norman, joined all the family for supper at LaCabana that evening. Ed and Hayden Norman, Kaitlin and Kindler, of Good Hope and the girls’ friends, Josh and Rhonda, of Watkinsville visited Saturday and the family enjoyed a cookout. Other guests were Thomas Albea, Yvonne Albea and Billy Dunnaway.
