Stevens Grove Baptist Church, located five miles south of Lexington off Highway 78, will observe its 96th homecoming on Sunday, August 1. Guest speaker for the morning service at 11 a.m. will be Charles Hardie of Gum Springs, Va. He is a retired foreign missionary who has served in Taiwan and Siberia among other places. A covered dish luncheon will follow the morning worship hour.

The Move of God Church, 152 Horace Callaway Road, Rayle, will have its annual Holy Ghost Revolution through Sunday evening, August 1. There will be three services daily: 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. There will be different speakers at each service.

The Pauline Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the Americas, 340 Alabama Street, will celebrate its anniversary Sunday, August 1, 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor Clifton Hall Jr. of St. John FBH Church in Athens. Dinner will be served.

The next session of the First Baptist Church, Washington, women's Bible study will begin Wednesday morning, August 11, at 9 a.m. The evening sessions will begin Thursday, August 12, at 7 p.m. Title of the study is "Here and Now . . . There and Then," and is a lecture series on the book of Revelation by Beth Moore. Becki Nichels will be the facilitator. Call the church office at 706-678- 2912 to sign up.

Clifford Grove Baptist Church at Rayle will have homecoming Sunday, August 8, 11 a.m., followed by revival services Wednesday, August 11, through Friday, August 13, 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Jonathan Carter of Siloam Church International of College Park.

ƒ New Springhill Baptist Church at Philomath will have homecoming Sunday, August 1, at 11:30 a.m. Revival services will be held Monday, August 2, through Friday, August 6, 7:30 p.m. The pastor, Dr. R.A. Hunter, will deliver the homecoming message. Dr. Alvin Smith, pastor of the Door Fellowship Church, Tucson, Arizona, will be the guest speaker for the revival services.

The 90th annual Walker family reunion for the descendants of Daniel Lumpkin Walker and Margaret Elizabeth Stevenson Walker, will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church Sunday, August 15. Sylvia Lee Walker of Rayle will provide the entertainment with her special selections of country and gospel songs. All connected families are invited to attend and bring their favorite food, old photographs, and documents to share. A covered dish lunch will be served at 1 p.m.

Phillips Mill Baptist church will have its 225th homecoming Sunday, August 8, 11 a.m. Revival services will be held each evening at 7 p.m. through Wednesday.

Hilliard Station Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 15, 11:45 a.m. Pastor Dwight Foster of Hilliard Station will be the speaker. Dinner will be served.

Kingdom Empowerment Worship Center will have a "Launch Service" Thursday, August 5, at 7 p.m. at the Third Shiloh Building, Washington. This is a new ministry to Wilkes County and will be under the leadership of Bishop Sharon Hunter- Owens of South Carolina. Mulberry Baptist Church will have a three-night revival August 16- 18, 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Andy Thornton of Atlanta.

A program on the seven last statements of Christ will be held at the Booker's Chapel Baptist Church Saturday, August 4, at 5 p.m. The program is sponsored by Cameron R. Acree and Elaine Acree Harris. There will be seven dynamic speakers. Included are Minister Donald Harris, Evangelist Stephanie Smith, Pastor Morquez Moreland, Prophetess Callie Sharpe, Evangelist Teresa Station, Prophetess Anita Gresham, and Bishop Dante Smith. Refreshments will be served.

Victory Baptist Church on the Newtown Road will have homecoming, celebrating 45 years, on August 8. Lawrence Griffeth, former pastor, will be preaching in the morning service. Evangelist Billy Ingram will be preaching in the evening services through Wednesday night. Calvary Quartet will be singing beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Nancy and Kerry McAvoy went to Warner Robins Air Force Base Sunday to see the fantastic display of the late Holice McAvoy’s art and carvings of airplanes. His collection is housed in the Eagle Building of the base museum ...It’s a shame the collection could not have stayed in Wilkes County, but it didn’t happen.
