Mallorysville VBS hosts 52 attending nightly July 21-25

Mallorysville Baptist Church had Vacation Bible School June 21-25 with an average attendance of 52 each night.

Director of the school was Dianne Compton. Rev. Donnie Berry is the pastor. The theme for the week was “Step By Step.”

Those in attendance marched into the church to the hymn, “Onward Christian Soldiers.” Pledges were said to the American and Christian flags and to the Bible with songs to complement each one.

The sanctuary was decorated with steps and words on steps indicating good steps that should be taken when following Jesus. Bad steps were indicated with words not suitable to follow Jesus. Classes were for ages nursery to 16 years of age.

The curriculum was based on how Bible characters took steps to follow Jesus. Each child was given a pedometer to wear each night to indicate how many steps they were able to take for Jesus. Friday night they were allowed to take the pedometers home. Supper was served each night at 6:30 with Vacation Bible School beginning at 7 p.m.

Commencement was held Friday night with each class presenting a program of what had been studied and learned during the week. Certificates were presented to each child by their teacher and the children enjoyed crafts.

Supper was served after commencement.
