Courtney Haughey, bride-elect of Thorne Brown, was entertained at an Around the House shower and brunch Saturday, July 24, at the home of Roger and Jennifer McAvoy on the Lexington Road.

Festivities were hosted by Mrs. McAvoy, her daughters, Laura Ellen and Abby McAvoy, and Anita Tureene of Oglethorpe County.

Miss Haughey was lovely in a summer floral sundress.

Gardenias from the McAvoy yard were used in the party areas in decorating.

The dining table, overlaid in white linen, held a lovely bouquet of light lavender Alstroemeria lilies.

Guests enjoyed a delicious brunch buffet.

The hostesses presented the brideelect a hurricane lamp and two mirrors. guests attending included the brideelect’s mother, Ann Haughey; sister, Katie Haughey; cousins, Logan and Faith Griffin, all of Washington; and the prospective bridegroom’s mother, Debra Brown of Washington; and sister, Amelia Brown of Augusta.
