BRWA sets annual meeting Aug. 28, public is invited
The public is invited to attend the 2010 annual meeting of the Broad River Watershed Association (BRWA) on Saturday, August 28, at the Group Shelter of Watson Mill Bridge State Park near Carlton in Madison County.
The meeting agenda includes a continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. followed by the business meeting at 10 o’clock. Dana Skelton of the Georgia River Network (GRN) will provide a program on “Water Trails” beginning at 11 a.m. and lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and learn about the importance of protecting our water and our watershed. “You do not have to be a member to attend, but we’d love to have you join BRWA as well,” said Victor Johnson.
The Broad River is one of the most important natural resources in Northeast Georgia, and has been recognized by the Department of Community Affairs as a Regionally Important Resource. The Broad contains the largest stretch of relatively pristine, free-flowing (undammed) river remaining in northern Georgia. The health of the Broad River Watershed is critical to the economy of Northeast Georgia.
“We invite everyone to attend our annual meeting and to learn about water trails and river protection. The meeting is free and open to the public,” Johnson said.
