News-Reporter will raise single-copy price to 75 cents on Sept. 2
Beginning with the September 2, 2010, edition of The News-Reporter, the single-copy price of the newspaper will increase to 75 cents.
“While we realize this is a substantial increase,” publisher Sparky Newsome said, “we must also point out that it has been at least 15 years since the last increase” Increasing costs over the years have forced the increase in single-copy sales, he said, but there will be no increase in subscription rates.
The in-county ($26.00), trade area ($33.00), outside ($41.00), and online ($33.00) rates will remain the same.
Also, the 75-cent per copy price will include sales tax making the newspaper easy to pay for and easy for convenience stores to make change.
“We value and appreciate all our readers,” Newsome said, “and we regret having to increase the singlecopy price. The good news is that subscribers can still get the paper delivered to their homes at the same old rates.”
