Tignall police’s arrest of cocaine dealer top roundup of August Wilkes Co. action

Tignall Police lead off the August police round up with the arrest of a street-level crack cocaine dealer. Chief Mike Arrington said Reco Ashmore, 27, of Church Street in Tignall, was arrested August 18 on Anderson Street and charged with one count of possession of cocaine and one count of sale of cocaine. He was held on $75,000 bond.

Arrington said a tip led him to send Tignall Officer Larry Brown to watch Ashmore’s apartment, and Brown observed what he thought was a drug transaction. Stopping Ashmore on the street, Brown found him in possession of cocaine.

George Cosby, 38, of Tignall was also arrested for simple possession and disorderly conduct, Arrington said.

Arrington said that Ashmore was just a street-level dealer. “We stomp one out and another pops up in his place, but we’re working to clean up the dealers higher up.”

Tignall Police also arrested Torri Walton, 23, of Tignall on July 23 and charged him with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; violation of the habitual violator law, and driving with no insurance. He was held on a probation violation.

In a round-up of other law enforcement action in Wilkes County during the last month, the following arrests were logged at the Wilkes County Law Enforcement Center.

Carlos C. Cox, 28, of Washington, was arrested July 30 by Wilkes deputies and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution of a controlled substance. He was held on a state probation violation.

Jarvis T. Wiggs, 32, of Tignall, was arrested July 29 by Wilkes deputies and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution of a controlled substance. He was released on $50,000 bond.

Larry Smith, 56, of Wilkes County, was arrested July 30 by Wilkes deputies and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution of a controlled substance. He was held on a state probation violation.

Mwandishi Denise Ferrell, 36, of Washington, was arrested July 30 by Wilkes deputies and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution of a controlled substance. She was held on a state probation violation.

Kianna Evans, 19, of Lincolnton, was arrested August 8 by Washington police and charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and with a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana. She was held on $11,000 bond.

Robert McClendon Jr., 36, of Washington, was arrested August 18 by Wilkes deputies and charged with felony possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He was held on $5,000 bond.

Patrece Williams, 25, of Washington, was arrested August 19 by Washington police and charged with failure to stop for a stop sign, violation of the child restraint seat law, giving false information or name, and driving while a license is withdrawn. She was released on $4,500 bond.

Martell Davis, 28, of Washington, was arrested August 24 by Washington police and charged with failure to stop for a stop sign, violation of a limited use permit, obstruction of an officer, and driving without a license (unlicensed/ wrong class) He was released on $2,852 bond.

James Kittle, 38, of Tignall, was arrested August 26 by Wilkes deputies and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license. He was released on $3,000 bond.

Fredrick Gale Porter, 31, of Washington, was arrested August 20 by Washington police and charged with obstruction of an officer. He was released on $1,146 bond.

Lyshon Cane, 30, of Wilkes County, was arrested July 30 by Georgia State Patrol troopers and charged with driving while license is withdrawn. He was released on $1,430 bond.

Clint Wayne Hill, 53, of Martinez, arrested August 17 by Washington police and charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce. He was released on $1,626 bond.

Freddie Gresham, 53, of Washington, was arrested July 30 by Georgia State Patrol troopers and charged with driving while license is withdrawn, driving with no insurance, driving with suspended tag, and two equipment violations. He was held on $1,923 bond.

Amy E. Wheatley, 26, of Wilkes County was arrested August 5 by Washington police and charged with driving while her license was withdrawn. She was released on $1,426 bond.

Ramon Barnes, 29, of Washington, was arrested August 22 by Washington police and charged with driving while his license was withdrawn. He was released on $1,426 bond.

Carl D. Farmer, 44, of Lexington, was arrested July 27 by Wilkes deputies and charged with criminal attempt to commit theft by taking. He was released on $1,200 bond.

Jonathon Stephen Collins, 19, of Lyons, Georgia, was arrested August 22 by Washington police and charged with speeding 26 to 30 over and with possession of marijuana less than one ounce. He was released on $930 cash bond.

Richard F. Lell, 50, of Augusta, was arrested August 15 by Washington police and charged with disorderly conduct. He was held on $566 bond.

Fernando Mills, 18, of Washington, was arrested August 24 by Washington police and charged with disorderly conduct. He was held on $283 bond.

Sherman Blackmon, 31, was arrested August 1 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with contempt of court (child support.) He was released on payment of a fine.

More than a dozen people were arrested for driving under the influence during this period:

Amanda M. Cantrell, 36, of Washington, was arrested July 31 by Washington police and charged with DUI, and with three counts of endangering a child while DUI. She was released on $6,706 bond.

Bradley Mark Denard, 44, of Elberton, was arrested by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with DUI and with leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run). He was released on $3,000 bond.

Gerardo Andrade, 27, of Wilkes County, was arrested July 25 by Washington police and charged with DUI (second offense), violation of the open container law, failure to drive within a single lane, and with driving while his license is withdrawn. He was released on $2,237 cash bond.

Asa Lamont Booker, 36, of Washington, was arrested August 26 by Washington police and charged with DUI, violation of the open container law, speeding 26-30 over, and failure to drive within a single lane. He was held on $2,490 bond.

Kendall Blackmon, 21, of Washington, was arrested August 18 by Washington police and charged with DUI, speeding 26-30 mph over, driving with no insurance, and driving on a suspended tag. He was held on $4,142 bond.

Terry Bridges, 56, of Lexington, was arrested August 12 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with DUI and with speeding 26-30 mph over. He was released on $1,998 bond.

Jonathan Maddox, 29, of Atlanta, was arrested August 15 by Washington police and charged with DUI and with failure to stop for a stop sign. He was released on $1,724 bond.

Michael Cason, 46, of Washington, was arrested August 14 by Washington police and charged with DUI and with failure to drive within a single lane. He was released on $2,602 cash bond.

Ronald Belincky, 53, of Athens, Tennessee, was arrested August 14 by Washington police and charged with DUI, violation of the open container law, and with driving without a license. He was held on $3,500 bond.

Eric Deon Thompson, 27, of Lincolnton, was arrested August 8 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with DUI. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Cornelius A. Williams, 24, of Washington, was arrested July 31 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with DUI and with failure to drive within a single lane. He was released on $1,822 bond.

Willie L. Hammond, 66, of Atlanta, was arrested August 22 by Washington police and charged with DUI and with laying drags. He was released on $1,822 bond.

Donta Hill, 31, of Washington, was arrested July 30 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with DUI and with driving while his license is withdrawn. He was released on $3,058 bond.
