Sardis Baptist Church had a good service Sunday morning. Rev. Jim Newsome brought a message “In Remembrance of Me” from I Corinthians 11:23-25. The Lord’s Supper was observed. Joyce Fry led the music with Pam Hall as pianist. Pastor Newsome gave the children a sermon at the altar before they went to the annex for children’s church with Monica Gunter. We also had a good service Sunday evening as pastor Newsome continued leading the study of the Book of First Corinthi- ans. Prayer meeting was at the Echols Home Wednesday evening. ƒPlease be in prayer for Jim and Karan Newsome as their step-grandson, Ty D'Avila, is missing from his home in Michigan. Ty's parents, Dennis and Cari Newsome D'Avila, and brother and sister live in Texas. Everyone at Sardis is going through an anxious time. Please be in prayer for all of this family. ƒPrayers continue for Lois Nunn, Grady Rogers, Jo Randall, Wanda Kirk, Tim Echols, Johnny Shedd, Helen Hall Price, Tommy Garrett, Trey Echols, Geneva Cowart, Charles Blakey, Judy Wright, Kenneth Callaway, Ricky Dawson, Tina VanHart, Ann Williamson, Becky Stover, Tracy Bussey, Warren Newsome, Nancy Moon, Frances Vinson, Patsy Epps, Judy Thornton, Marvin Weaver, Graham Eason, Becky Thomasson, Marilyn Newsome, Thomas Shultz, George Wideman, Edythe Harper, Thelma Favor, Rev. Roy Cates, Randall Smith, Reece Smith, Elizabeth Denard, Maude Mauldin, Dorothy Callaway, Sallie Mae Arnold, Martha Williford, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell. ƒJ.W. and Bonnie Boatwright went to Athens Monday of last week to J.W.'s appointment for tests with the heart doctor. They went back Tuesday for the results and everything was good. Monday they enjoyed eating at Applebees and Tuesday at Ryan's. ƒ Spending Sunday with Buck and Linda Echols were Greg and Angela Armour, Cody and Hunter, Will and Samantha Callaway and Emma, Sissy Smith, Abby and J.T., Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank. ƒAll of Shirley Chafin's children and most of her grandchildren were visiting at her house during the weekend. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined James and Kathleen Canup, Donnie and Virginia Ashmore, Charles and Hilda Palmer of Lexington and Fran Thaxton Friday evening for a trip to Bowman for supper at The Berryman House. ƒRuby Arnold has been taking care of sick sisters, Martha Williford, and Sallie Mae Arnold, seeing after Anihya and taking Aaliya to ball practice. Her niece has been staying with her to help. ƒBonnie Boatwright visited Demetrice and Brooke Porter, Kaitlyn, Bryson, and Kaidyn and Kaitlyn's friend, Saniyan Steens, from her first grade class from school who had spent the night with her Saturday. Saturday evening Kay Berry joined Brooke, Kaitlyn, Bryson, Kaidyn, and Saniyan for a trip to Athens to Chuck E Cheese. ƒDebra (Bobby) Armour, Barbara Smith, and Frances Fendley visited a friend, Vickie Gucth in Athens. They treated her out to a Chinese restaurant. ƒGeorge and Mozelle Casey spent Tuesday afternoon with Frances Fendley. ƒLouise Smith and Lucile Edmonds spent Wednesday through Sunday morning with Doris Walker. They went to Atlanta Friday and spent the night and visited the Mall of Georgia all day Saturday. ƒ Bonnie Boatwright joined Helen Smith, Gertrude Jones, Joyce Silvey and Jimmie Lou Sharp at McDonald's in Washington for the Saturday evening meal. ƒFrances Fendley spent Saturday with George and Mozelle Casey while Jerry and Lucy Chafin and Mamie Sue Mc- Clain of South Carolina were there visiting. ƒBrooke Porter, Kaitlyn, Bryson and Kaidyn, and Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed Sunday dinner with Kay Berry and Trey. ƒI hope everyone has a nice and safe Labor Day holiday weekend.
