Deadline for Miss Wilkes Pageant entries is Monday, September 20

The deadline is Monday, September 20, for entries in the annual Miss Wilkes County Pageant.

The pageant is set for Saturday, September 25, at the Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School’s cafeteria. The younger age groups are set for 11 a.m, with the senior groups’ pageant set for 6 p.m. There will be mandatory rehearsals for all contestants on Thursday, September 23, at 6 and 7 p.m.

“We’re really happy to have the pageant back at the school, and we are very proud to be giving U.S. Savings Bonds to all the winners,” Ashley Barnett, pageant coordinator said. “We’ll give a $50 savings bond to all the division winners and $200 to the girl chosen as Miss Wilkes County 2010.”

In addition, the age limit for Miss Wilkes County has been raised to 20 years old.

Entry applications are now online at MissWilkesCountyPageant. com or may be picked up at the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce located on The Square and at stores downtown.

As they were last year, little boys will be welcome to enter, Barnett said. “But this year, we will have only one group for our handsome little guys – Little Mister Wilkes County for boys ages 2 to 5.”

In addition to the boys’ class, pageant divisions will be: Toddler Miss, 12-23 months; Tiny Miss, 2-years; Little Miss, 4-6 years; Petite Miss, 7-9 years; Deb Miss, 10-12 years; Teen Miss, 13-15 years; and Miss, 16-20 years old.

Contact Barnett at 706-678-2013 or email misswilkescountypageant @yahoo.com with any questions.

Barnett said that the pageant is seeking sponsorships and will be selling ad pages for the pageant program.
