Old gas tanks removed from Anderson’s Service Station
A crew from contractor AECS conducts the long-awaited removal of the buried fuel tanks from the Anderson Service Station on Whitehall Street as part of the Southwest Washington Redevelopment Plan. The property, now owned by the City of Washington, is being cleaned and cleared of any hazardous waste in preparation for making the property available for development as a business site. The city used brownfield grants to test the property for leaking fuel, and then to remove the tanks and lines. Once the property gets a clear bill of health from the EPA, it will be made available for commercial development.
