Out-of-control SUV flips into woods
Georgia State Patrol troopers investigated this Saturday morning accident in which a Nissan Pathfinder left the road on a sharp curve on Euel Saggus Road near Sandtown Road. The driver, Thelma Ballew, 57, of Rayle, sustained minor injuries in the 11 a.m. wreck after her SUV left the road, hit an embankment and a tree and flipped. After rescuers noticed the smell of alcohol at the scene, Ballew admitted to having been drinking wine. Following tests, she was cited for DUI, violation of the open container law, and failure to maintain a lane, Trooper M.A. Screws said.
