Annual session of Third Shiloh Assoc. to convene Sept. 29-Oct. 1

The 119th Annual Session of the Third Shiloh Baptist Association will convene at the Third Shiloh Mission Center, 219 McLendon Drive, Washington, September 29-October 1.

Wednesday, September 29, will be Youth Night beginning at 6 p.m. with President Tyran Fanning presiding, assisted by Antoinette Johnson, secretary. The devotion period will be conducted by young people from Pleasant Grove and New Springhill churches. Damien Callaway will give the welcome and all churches will join together for the literary program. Rev. G.L. Avery, moderator of the Association, will deliver his annual address.

The women’s department will convene Thursday morning, September 30, at 9 a.m., beginning with the devotion by Flint Hill and New Springhill churches. Willie R. Bankston will lead the Bible lesson, with Eileen Moore as alternate.

The women’s department devotion will be led by Mt. Carmel and Cherry Grove churches. Rev. Garnie Shorter will instruct the ministers and James R. Avery, the laymen. Committee assignments will be made. The sermon will be by Rev. Paul Hull.

The Thursday afternoon session will begin at 2 p.m. with the devotion led by Mark’s Tabernacle and New Springhill churches. Irvin Smith will lead Jubilee singing and Rev. R.A. Hunter will deliver the educational sermon, with Rev. G.L. Avery as alternate.

Thursday night’s women’s department sisters march will begin at 6:45 p.m. Heard’s Chapel and Pleasant Grove will lead the devotion and Rachel Jackson will welcome those present. The sisters will be in charge of the literary program and Melba Hill will deliver the president’s annual address. The treasurer’s report will be given, pledges will be reported, and there will be election of officers. All committees will meet at 9 a.m. Friday morning.

The Friday morning session will begin with devotion by Mulberry and Twin Oak churches followed by a memorial service led by Rev. Charles Belton. Reports of the committees and field agents will be received. Rev. Robert Crawford will deliver the missionary sermon, with Rev. James McIver as alternate. Rev. Albert Rucker Jr. will lead a study of the Baptist Doctrine.

Officers of the Third Shiloh Association are Rev. G.L. Avery, moderator; Rev. R.A. Hunter, vice-moderator; Olivia Jackson, secretary; Nancy Gunby, assistant secretary; and Andrew Jackson, treasurer.
