Good news was received by Jim and Karan Newsome Monday of last week when they were contacted by their stepgrandson, Ty D’Avilo. He was well and safe after being reported missing. ƒ The prayer list continues for Nina Boatwright, Lois Nunn, Grady Rogers, Jo Randall, Wanda Kirk, Tim Echols, Johnny Shedd, Helen Hall Price, Ann Williamson, Trey Echols, Becky Stover, Tracy Bussey, Warren Newsome, Graham Eason, Marilyn Newsome, Thomas Shultz, George Wideman, Edythe Harper, Thelma Favor, Maude Mauldin, Dorothy Callaway, Sallie Mae Arnold, Martha Williford, Melissa Clark, Evelyn Bennett, Linda Hopkins, Becky Thomasson, Tina VanHart, Charles Blakey, Ora Mae Kirk, Frances Vinson, Patsy Epps, Judy Wright, Marvin Weaver, Reece Smith, Randall Smith, Ricky Dawson, Kenneth Callaway, Tommy Garrett, Rev. Roy Cates, Geneva Cowart, Mary Ann Peeler, Charles Pullen, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell. ƒSardis Baptist Church had a great service Sunday morning. The message by Rev. Jim Newsome was "Take Another Look" from Matthew. Joyce Fry led in the singing of hymns by the congregation as Pam Hall played the piano. The children gathered around Pastor Newsome at the altar as he gave them their message. They departed to the annex with Cody Armour for children's church. We had several visitors in the congregation. Presto and Joyce Fry's daughter Amy and her son were there and four ladies from Vero Beach, Fla., three of whom were members of Pastor Newsome's church when he was there and the other lady was a friend from the Methodist Church in Vero Beach who had come to surprise Jim and Karan. We were glad to have them. Prayer meeting was held Wednesday evening at the Echols Home. ƒPrayers are for the families of Nancy Ruth Armour Moon, Bobby Eugene Bolton, Carrie Norman, Rachel Callaway Johnson, and Thomas Elliott. They will be greatly missed. Love and sympathy are for these families. ƒMany in the community attended the funeral service for Nancy Ruth Moon Saturday morning at County Line Baptist Church. Priscilla Maxwell of Tyrone attended with her son and daughter. Several who had worked with Nancy at Clark-Schwebel in Washington were in attendance and sat together at the service. They were Inez Moore, June Smith, Louise Grimaud, Julia Thornton, Mary Burt, and Bonnie Boatwright. Many other fellow workers attended visitation Friday evening at Hopkins Funeral Home in Washington. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined James and Kathleen Canup of Lexington and Fran Thaxton Tuesday afternoon to go to Elberton to play bingo with other seniors at Wendy's. ƒHelen Smith and Gertrude Jones of Crawford and Bonnie Boatwright went to Augusta Wednesday and stopped on the way back at McDonald's in Washington for the evening meal. ƒKyle Frankel of Crawford spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights with his grandparents, Clyde and Sandy Whittington. ƒPeggy Echols joined other family members and friends and spent the day Sunday in Stephens with Tim and Allison Hayes and Harley Grace. ƒFrances Fendley joined George and Mozelle Casey for a trip to Thomson browsing around and stopped to eat at the Burger King. ƒShirley Chafin had a cookout Sunday of barbecued chicken and all the trimmings along with homemade peach ice cream for family and friends. Enjoying the day with Shirley were Mack Chafin, Ronnie and Racquel Chafin, Wendy Chafin, Keith Wolfe, Evan Harper, Jake Newsome, Sheila Arnold, Mandy Young, Blake and Jessica, Terri Diaz, Domingo, Hosea, and Tangie Chafin. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined Helen Smith and Gertrude Jones of Crawford to eat Sunday dinner at Ivery's in Thomson. They traveled along country roads in McDuffee and Columbia counties, enjoying the countryside and scenery. They came back by McDonald's in Washington for cold drinks.
