The First United Methodist Church will have a Moravian Love Feast-Dinner on Wednesday, December 15, 5 p.m., followed by Christmas carols and dessert. Cost is $5.00.

The bereavement seminar led by Rev. Glen Kohlhagen will meet Wednesday, December 8, 1 p.m., at the Wills Memorial Hospital.

The Washington Little Theater Co. will have a Christmas musical variety show on December 10, 11, 7 p.m., and Dec. 12, 2 p.m.

Gibson Grove Baptist Church, Thomson Road, now has worship services on the first Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and fourth Sunday at 9 a.m.

The First United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve Sanctuary Candlelight/Holy Communion Service at 6 p.m.

New Sutton Temple Baptist Church will present its Christmas program December 19, 3 p.m. There will b lots of singing and a Christmas play. Refreshments will be served.

The Washington-Wilkes Marching Tiger Band fruit sale is underway. Fruit will be delivered around December 10.

The annual Episcopal Bazaar and Luncheon will be held on Saturday, December 4, beginning with the bazaar at 10:30 a.m.; the luncheon at 11:30 a.m.

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Washington will be selling shelled pecans for $8 per one lb. bag for the month of November. Contact Sherry Hudson or any Kiwanis member for orders.

Booker's Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pastor Rev. Dante Smith beginning Friday, December 3, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Camille Holmes, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, Villa Rica. On Sunday, December 5, at 11:30 a.m., the speaker will be Bishop Aaron Jones Jr., pastor of the Word of God Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atlanta. Dinner will be served on Sunday.

There will be a benefit chicken barbecue plate sale for Laverne Kilgore on Saturday, December 4, 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at VFW Post 5899 on the South By-Pass. Proceeds will benefit Miss Kilgore's medical expenses. Tickets are available at Hendricks Florist or by calling 706-678-2751. Cost is $7.00 per plate.

New Saints CME Church will have a candlelight service on Sunday, December 12, at 6 p.m.

The W-WCHS Class of 1981 will have a meeting on December 11, 6 p.m., at Mike’s Place in Washington.

The Chancel Choir of the First United Methodist Church will present a Christmas cantata on Sunday, December 12, 11:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The Children’s Choir of the First Baptist Church will present a program of Christmas music on Sunday, December 12, at 6:30 p.m. The choir is directed by Ann Tiller.

Washington-Wilkes Author Melissa LeGette will hold a book signing for her second novel on Thursday, December 9, at the Mary Willis Library. Title of the novel is For the Kingdom and it will be available along with her first novel, The Unicorn Girl. Her original notecards and bookmarks will also be available. Also available at the library is the Friends (of the Library) Bookstore which has books at bargain prices.

Mulberry Baptist Church will have its Christmas program on December 11, 6 p.m. Members will be presenting the play, "The Birth of Jesus." All area churches are welcome to come and share their plays, poems, dances, etc. Refreshments will be served.

New Saints CME Church on Baltimore Road will hold the next monthly SNAP meetings at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 11. This will be the last meeting for this year.

Mulberry Baptist Church will celebrate the 17th anniversary of the pastor, Rev. Robert L. Crawford, December 19, with Sunday School beginning at 10:30 a.m. Rev. James White and the New Ford Baptist Church will be in charge of the services. Dinner will be served.

Wills Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a holiday education class for diabetics and diabetic caregivers. The class will be held Thursday, December 9, 2 p.m. The focus will be on holiday foods for diabetics. Call 706-678-9296 for reservations.

The Concerned Citizens of Wilkes County will meet Tuesday, December 14, 7 p.m., in the Mary Willis Library.

ƒ Transforming Life Ministries will have the "Master's Monday" worship service Monday, December 6, 7 p.m., at the "Episcopal Church of the Mediator, 214 E. Robert Toombs Avenue (the church with the red door. Parking is in the rear of the church.) There will be a special time of prayer and sharing of what God has been speaking to His people.
